Privacy Policy
Effective Date: June 12, 2026
CarPrint helps drivers record, review, and understand driving trips, fuel usage, vehicle activity, and driving behavior. This Privacy Policy explains what information CarPrint collects, how it is used, and how you can control it.
Information We Collect
If you do not turn on Upload trips in the app, CarPrint collects only the information you provide for testing and account setup — not your trip data. Trips you record stay on your iPhone and are not sent to our server. We may collect:
- Email address
- Name or alias
- Vehicle name
- Vehicle model
- iPhone specs
- Vehicle specs
- Feedback notes you provide (for example on the Intake Survey or your profile)
Information We Collect if you allow trip uploads
If you turn on Upload trips in CarPrint Settings (Live → gear), CarPrint may also collect and store on our server:
- Driver name or alias and vehicle name
- Trip start and end times
- Trip duration, distance, speed, MPG, fuel usage, fuel cost, RPM, and CarPrint score
- Hard acceleration and hard braking counts
- GPS route points and trip start/end locations
- Reverse-geocoded start and end addresses
- Notes you add to trips
- CarPrint Settings in the app (gas price, region/ZIP code, and access token)
- Upload/sync status for trips
If you connect an OBD device, CarPrint may use vehicle data from that device to calculate trip metrics on your iPhone. That data is included in trip uploads when Upload trips is on.
How We Use Information
CarPrint uses the information above to communicate about testing, invitations, account setup, and support.
If you allow trip uploads, CarPrint also uses trip information to:
- Record and display your trips on the web dashboard
- Calculate fuel usage, cost, MPG, and driving scores
- Show route maps and trip details
- Group trips by driver and vehicle
- Sync trip data to the CarPrint server
- Restore trip data from the CarPrint server
- Improve reliability of trip recording and uploads
Location Data
CarPrint uses location data on your iPhone to record trip routes and identify trip start and end locations. Location data is used while a trip is in progress. When you tap Start on Live, CarPrint may use background location to keep the route continuous until you tap Stop or the trip ends.
Location data stays on your device unless you turn on Upload trips, in which case route data may be uploaded with your trips. Location data is not sold.
Data Sharing
CarPrint does not sell your personal information.
Trip data may be uploaded to the CarPrint server only if you turn on Upload trips in the app or use server restore features. Access to server data is controlled by your CarPrint access token or login credentials.
Apple may collect crash logs, diagnostics, or TestFlight feedback according to Apple's own policies when you use TestFlight or App Store versions of the app.
Data Storage
CarPrint stores trip data locally on your device. If you turn on Upload trips in CarPrint Settings (Live → gear), trip data will also be stored on the CarPrint server. If Upload trips is off, we do not receive your trip data — only the profile and intake information listed above.
You are responsible for protecting your device, access token, and login credentials.
Data Deletion
You can delete trips from within the app or on your web dashboard. You may also delete local app data by deleting the app from your device.
If your trip data has been uploaded to the CarPrint server and you want it removed from the server, contact scott@getcarprint.com.
Children's Privacy
CarPrint is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
CarPrint uses reasonable measures to protect data, but no app, device, or server can guarantee complete security. Keep your device, Apple ID, and CarPrint credentials secure.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. Updates will be reflected by changing the effective date above.
Compatibility & technology
CarPrint uses OBD2 BLE adapters and iPhone location during active trips. New testers should start with Getting started.
